Spirit Bottle Cork Stopper Disclaimer

Please take a moment to just read the below information, regarding ‘cork’ closures for our glass spirit bottles.

Fitting a cork to a bottle isn’t as simple as it might first appear. The effectiveness of the cork in being air and watertight, be it a synthetic or a natural cork, is affected by a number of factors that might not be immediately obvious.

Factors such as the temperature of the bottling facility, storage area and display conditions can all affect the behaviour of the corks. The nature of the contents of the bottle and especially it’s sugar content will also influence the cork fit, as will the fill line used on the bottle by the filler.

Here at Wares we have conducted our tests on standard spirits stored at room temperature and for many customers these will work well, but you will need to test your own products with the cork we have suggested, before manufacturing your products. This is why we encourage taking samples (especially if you are a commercial producer) and if need be trying different corks in your own environment with your own products.

Once you have selected a cork, to minimize the risk of pressure build-up and cork expulsion, it's essential to bottle your product at the appropriate temperature. Storing your bottled product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and high temperatures, is crucial.

Please note - when testing corks, all corks should be tested in a bottle filled to the fill line capacity (see technical drawing) at the correct bottling temperature for your product (not too cool) and please note testing a cork in an empty, dry bottle simply doesn’t work.

Because of all this, please note that of course Wares of Knutsford Ltd cannot assess the suitability of any container or closure for your particular liquid product and we cannot be held liable for any damages/loss to your product resulting from the use of our containers and closures. Please contact us for some samples!

Thank you!
