We're huge fans of enamelware at Wares of Knutsford, and we know our customers are too. What could be more pleasing than an Easter table laden with delicious food in blue and white Falcon enamelware dishes, complemented with small glass bottles filled with homemade cordial and a glass jar with fresh spring blooms?
If you're keen to create that desirable vintage look yourself at home, here are some of the top reasons to love Falcon enamelware.
Falcon is an Iconic British Brand
Falcon enamel is instantly recognisable by its ice-white colour with the classic blue rim. Its original design has never changed, and it's now a timeless classic that looks beautiful in all kitchens, especially those with a country or vintage style. Falcon was set up by Kleiner and Sons in the 1920s and made originally in the Black Country, near Birmingham. The collection was revitalised with fresh colours and additional cookware products in 2015, and the gauge of the classic mug was increased too, so that the products would be as hard-wearing and as durable as possible.
Today, Falcon enamel is sold in over fifty countries worldwide, and the brand continues to expand its range while still producing the original enamelware cooking favourites to the highest standards.
The Strength Advantage of Falon Enamel
Falcon enamel doesn't just look timeless and beautiful in an elegant home; it is also made to last. Enamelware is made by fusing porcelain to heavy-gauge steel. This makes it smooth, durable and resistant to chemicals. The finished appearance can be coloured to take on durable, rich shades, and the cookware is resistant to burning. Even better, if it's dropped, a Falcon cookware piece may crack, but it won't break.
Falcon enamelware is safe in ovens of up to 270 °C and is also suitable for dishwashers. It can also be used on electric and gas hobs, making it an all-round wonder.
Try this Spring Recipe
Here's a great recipe that makes cooking easy as the sunny days arrive, Get outdoors while you let the oven do the hard work! This is a lovely, simple spring tray bake that uses everyday ingredients, including store cupboard staples.
Spring Chicken Bake
Heat the oven to Gas 5, fan 170C or 190C, and heat the oil in your enamel tray on the hob. Add 500g of chicken thigh fillets, seasoned, and fry them for a few minutes until they are browned. Remove the chicken and then set it aside. Add one chopped onion, a crushed garlic clove and a sliced courgette to the tray and cook it for a few minutes until soft. Stir in a tin of chopped tomatoes, a teaspoon of dried rosemary and a tablespoon of tomato puree and simmer the ingredients for a minute.
Season well, return the chicken to the tray and then add a tin of drained butterbeans. You could substitute chickpeas if you prefer. Transfer the dish to the oven and roast it for half an hour until the chicken is cooked through and the juices run clear if you insert a skewer.

Rhubarb Crumble
You've enjoyed dinner, now it's time for pudding!
This is a great comfort recipe filled with fresh spring flavours, and it's a great way to make use of the oven while it's already in use. To make it, cut around ten sticks of rhubarb into three-inch pieces and place them on your oven tray. Sprinkle with a little water and 8 tbsp of caster sugar. Roast for ten minutes, and then sprinkle over a little ground ginger before mixing. Fill the enamel dish around 4cm deep with rhubarb.
Then, rub 110g of soft butter into 200g of plain flour. Sprinkle this crumble topping over the rhubarb and bake your dish for around 40 minutes, until the topping is golden-brown and the rhubarb filling is bubbling. Remove, cool and serve with your choice of topping; thick cream gets our vote!
