We know that our customers love using glass jars in their homes for all kinds of creative purposes. Whether you have a passion for jam-making or a beautiful craft room with jars filled with buttons, ribbons and embellishments, simple glass jars and bottles work incredibly well.

Why we love glass jars

At Wares of Knutsford, we are real fans of versatile glassware, and we know our customers are too. After all, glass bottles and jars have so many fantastic uses and benefits. They are environmentally-friendly, chemical-free and long-lasting too. Glass jars look great, can be easily customised, and they're also very cost-effective. Even better, there's a huge range of glass jars and bottles for sale at Wares, from tiny 15 ml glass bottles to large two-litre size jars for serving drinks.

Ideas for Transforming Your Spaces with Glass Jars

Are you thinking of doing some home upgrades this summer without breaking the bank? Perhaps you're looking for some creative home projects with the kids? Here are some ideas to get you started! We often recommend using glass Mason jars for crafts and creativity at home because they are so incredibly versatile. Our customers are always on the hunt for Mason jars of all sizes and styles - they're the ultimate multi-taskers!

1. Soap dispensers

Ball Mason jars can be customised with a huge variety of lids and toppers. You can buy a soap dispenser lid to make your glass Mason jars into beautiful soap dispensers for your bathroom. You could even spray paint them with a little sparkly colour if you have a theme to blend in with.

2. Herb or Microgreen Kitchen garden

Mason jars make great herb gardens. You can grow herbs on your windowsill in a row of glass Mason jars with a little compost. Add pretty labels and try fast-growing herbs or microgreens.

3. Mason Match Jar

Regular matchboxes can be flimsy, but you can use ball Mason jars to make far more attractive and functional alternatives that make great gifts too. Simply add a circle of black sandpaper to the silver screw top lid. Here's a tutorial: https://fashionmeetsfood.com/2012/06/06/matchstick-mason-jars-with-striking-lid/.

4. Homemade candles

Commercial candles are usually made with paraffin wax which is damaging to the environment and releases a lot of chemicals into the atmosphere. Invest in soy wax discs, tapers and wicks and make your own using fragrance or essential oils, plus food colouring and biodegradable glitter. These are also fantastic for gifting, and you can customise the colour and fragrance to suit the occasion.

5. Storage containers

Decorate glass jars with pretty labels, ribbons and fabric toppers and use them to store your household essentials. You can store anything from ribbons and buttons to kitchen spices in pretty glass jars.

6. Salt shaker

Add your own spout to a Mason glass jar and it will make a great salt dispenser. You can do the same to make your own pepper shaker, too.

7. Snow globe

Kids love making snow globes, and these are fun to make at any time of year with a little glitter and some cute miniature characters or decorations to glue to the lid. Here's an easy tutorial to get you started: https://heyletsmakestuff.com/jar-snow-globe/.

8. Toothbrush holder

It's easy to make your own toothbrush holder with glass Mason jars and chicken wire! You simply remove the centre of the silver-coloured screw lid and place a round cut-out of chicken wire to make a holder for the brushes. 9. Drinking cups

Mason jars look great for serving smoothies and milkshakes, and you can buy attachment holders and lids too.

10. Decorative bath salts

Decant bath salts into your Mason jars and line them up for a colourful display or make your own with Epsom Salts and essential oils. You can add extras such as dried lavender, rose petals and rosemary for a beautifully fragrant and natural bath.

11. Yoghurt

It's easy to make your own yoghurt, and it's extremely good for you too, being packed with beneficial bacteria that are good for your gut. Try this recipe to make your own delicious yoghurt with milk and a probiotic starter: https://wellnessmama.com/recipes/yogurt-recipe/.
