Glass storage jars for all occasions
Posted by The Wares Team on 28th Mar 2022
We have a fantastic range of beautiful glass storage jars at Wares of Knutsford to suit all needs. For example:
Clip top jars
Some of our most popular storage jars are clip top jars, including Kilner jars. These are great for storing dry goods at home. Label them up and display your jars on a dresser or shelf for a truly appealing kitchen or pantry. They also work well for baking puddings. Try baking miniature fruit crumbles or make individual cheesecakes for a pudding presentation that will delight everyone. Miniature clip jars also work very well when you're serving up pickles and chutneys as you can create individual portions of your finest creations and serve them up with a Ploughman's lunch on serving platters.
Large jam jars
These look wonderful filled with jewel-like jams and jellies, but they also work wonderfully well to store rice, pasta, flour, sugar and other essentials. Try large fancy glass storage jars to store biscuits, cookies and sweets or your homemade confectionery. Large screw top jam jars also look really pretty with decorative fabric toppers tied with twine.
Large pickle jars
Whether you're creating a stock of pickles for the months ahead, or looking to store pears in wine or preserve peaches in spiced liqueur, these larger jars are wonderful for showcasing your larger home kitchen projects. They also work very well as impromptu vases for floral displays. Why not try spraying a large glass storage jar with a metallic or neon colour pop spray for a contemporary vase that will look fun and fresh, and cost far less than a blown vase.
Screw-top jars
As well as being multi-tasking staples in the kitchen, some creative interior designers are using screw-top glass Kilner jars as light bulbs! You can do this by drilling a hole in the lid, securing the light flex through the hole and then adding the light bulb before twisting the glass jar back into the lid. Cute, quirky and a real hit with industrial bars and vintage cafes alike! These large jars also work very well for serving drinks and you can adapt lids to insert straws for garden punch.
Spring projects with glass jars
With a bit of creativity, you can create a beautifully fresh spring and Easter feel in your home by using glass jars and bottles. Here are some of our favourite ideas:
A mini terrarium or planter
Plant a succulent or orchid in a large glass jar with tiny battery lights to create a centrepiece for a dining table or mantlepiece. Giant push top glass jars are ideal for this and they help to retain warmth and moisture inside, making the glass act as tiny greenhouses for warmth-loving plants. Just sprinkle in a few drops of water once a week and avoid over-watering. Angled glass sweet jars also make great terrariums, and they are cheaper than bespoke alternatives! Easter treats
Find some cute Easter characters or use air-drying clay to make your own mini chicks and bunnies and glue them on top of large glass storage jars before spray painting the lids all over in sweet pastel shades. Fill the jars with coloured eggs and wrapped sweets and make them into seasonal gifts or treats for when guests come to stay.
A spring snow globe
Snow globes aren't just for Christmas, so why not make a spring-themed globe using a miniature glass jar, sparkly glitter, small Easter characters and a bit of creativity? You can find some excellent tutorials here: https://bigdiyideas.com/40-fun-pretty-snowglobes-to-make/
Easter candles
Why not paint miniature glass storage bottles in pastel colours and tie them with pieces of fabric or ribbon before filling them with tea lights. You could go a step further and make your own candles with soy wax and wicks, adding fragrance oil for a sweet smell as they burn. Photo storage
It's an emerging trend but we've seen some interior designers using vintage glasses to display photos inside. This trend couldn't be easier to try, just find a selection of pretty and transparent glass storage jars and place photos inside as a quirky design feature.
Easter nests
Use shallow glass jars and fill them with shredded yellow and pink paper for a nest base, then add mini coloured chicks, foam bunnies, miniature eggs and anything else that captures your fancy. Mini battery operated lights will add light and interest. These make lovely gifts or pretty table centrepieces.
